Study in New Zealand from the Philippines

Studying in New Zealand from the Philippines starts with choosing a course and getting an offer of place, then applying for a New Zealand student visa. Miranda Global has an office in Malate, Manila, and a team in New Zealand, and this page walks through how the process works.

  1. How it works, start to finish

The order matters, because each step depends on the one before it:

    1. Choose a programme and an approved education provider, with the career you want in mind.
    2. Apply to the provider and receive an offer of place.
    3. Apply for the student visa. INZ advises applying at least 3 months before you plan to travel, and says processing is busiest between October and March.
    4. Prepare for arrival: accommodation, insurance and the first weeks in a new country.
  2. Our office in Manila

Miranda Global's Philippines office is at Cityland Vito Cruz Towers, 20 P. Ocampo, Malate, Manila. Our Country Director, Dr. Earl Masacayan, is based in the Philippines, and immigration advice is given by our Licensed Immigration Adviser in New Zealand.

  3. Masters in New Zealand

INZ has announced that an eligible Master's degree (level 9), with at least 30 weeks of full-time study in the programme itself, may lead to a 3-year Post-Study Work Visa. The course and the post-study rules are worth looking at together from the start.

  4. Scholarships for Filipino students

Scholarships are offered by individual institutions and through government programmes, and the terms vary. Ask each institution what it offers, and use Study with New Zealand, run by Education New Zealand, as the official guide for international students.

  5. Working in New Zealand from the Philippines

Work visas are a separate route from study. INZ's Accredited Employer Work Visa requires a job offer from an accredited New Zealand employer. INZ says employers and agents cannot charge you fees for a job.
